How to Perform Hard/Factory Reset LENOVO ThinkPad 8

Factory or Hard (Full) Reset:
It may be necessary to perform a reset if your device fails to respond when buttons are pressed or the screen is tapped.

Warning: 
This will erase all your personal information, any contacts stored on your device and any programs that have been installed. You should only perform a clean boot when all other options have failed to restore your device to an operational state.

Important Instructions:

  • If you have an external memory in your device, you must remove it to avoid losing your important data, since the process of hard reset will erase all content in its path.
  • As the internal memory can not be removed, I suggest you make a complete backup of your important files, because the hard reset will delete all data types or existing files.
!!!!! Make sure you have the device charged up to 70%.

Hard Reset Via Settings: 

  1. Your device should be turned on.
  2. Find and Tap Settings > Change PC settings > and choos Update and recovery.
  3. Select Recovery option from the left side.
  4. There will be three options, Tap on Get Started button in the second option Remove everything and reinstall Windows.
  5. Now choos the option Just remove my files for (quick format) or Fully clean the drive for (complete format).
  6. The cleaning process will be start and take about 30 minutes to complete.

Hard Reset Via Phone Buttons:

  • Turn Off your device.
  • Connect the USB recovery key to the micro USB connector of your tablet.
  • When the device switching on, Press the Power button + Volume Up button together to enter the ThinkPad Setup program.
  • Choose Startup from the blue ribbon at top of screen.
  • From the menu, drag USB CD/DVD upward until the USB CD/DVD is shown as the first Startup device.
  • Tap Save and Yes to save all changes.
  • Select Restart and follow instructions.
  • Select the language which you want and click Next.
  • Again follow the instructions and then it will be done the hard reset process.
